Tracie: Client-centered care for teens, adults, and families, with special focus on rural experiences

Ms. Tracie Schardein, LPC, joins MPS, L.L.C. remotely from her community in rural north-central Kansas. In addition to a Master’s in Counseling from Fort Hays State University and her training as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Tracie brings years of invaluable school counseling experience helping PK-12 students and their families in districts ranging from small 1A schools to large 5A high schools. Tracie understands the particulars of Midwestern small-town communities and culture and is well-suited to address the unique challenges rural kids, teens, and parents face far beyond the urban cores. She is also an excellent therapeutic fit for teachers and other members of our PK-12 education system.

Tracie’s warmth and wisdom, refined by years of teaching and caring for kids and families in an educational setting, are a great fit for individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life. Although she is well-versed in the mental health concerns of folks living in rural communities, her skills and sensibilities will appeal to anyone seeking greater authenticity and peace of mind, from Dodge City to Kansas City.

Tracie says, “If you’re tired of putting on the ‘I’m fine-you’re fine-everything’s fine’ mask, but you’re scared of what others will see or what you’ll discover if you take it off, I’d love to work with you to help you lose the mask, unpack your worries, gain some insight, and (re)discover you.

Whether the mask is hiding anxiety, depression, grief, parenting challenges, relationship issues, loneliness, life transitions, or other concerns about you or your child/teen, let’s work together to lose the mask and find you.”

Tracie’s approach is grounded in compassion, active listening, and evidence-based therapies, including client-centered (i.e., Rogerian), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT). SFBT is a goal-focused therapeutic approach emphasizing clients’ strengths and focusing on solutions rather than problems. She is also a Trained Provider in Military-Focused Care with Star Behavioral Health Providers, a collaboration of organizations that trains and recruits civilian behavioral health providers to help military-connected individuals find mental health care. SBHP's mission is to provide high-quality behavioral health care to military service members, veterans, and their families. Most recently, Tracie completed the Seleni Institute’s Perinatal Loss & Grief course on scholarship from the Kansas chapter of Postpartum Support International. Lastly, Tracie joins MPS, L.L.C. with priceless lived experience as a mother of three, including twins.

Tracie is available for teletherapy sessions only.
